Correspondence between Wilkins and Linus Pauling, of the Linus Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine, California, USA, including: letter from Pauling to Wilkins, 3 Nov 1960, relating to research on purine pyrimidine pairs; correspondence relating to a planned biography of Pauling by Farooq Hussain, King’s College London (apparently unpublished), and also to an article by Hussain, published in New Scientist, 1977, critical of the Linus Pauling Institute. Draft letter, ‘Vitamin C therapy of advanced cancer’ by Pauling, submitted to the New England Journal of Medicine, 1980; draft article by Linus Pauling, Richard Willoughby, Ruth Reynolds, Edwin Blaisdell and Stephen Lawson, ‘Incidence of squamous cell carcinoma in hairless mice irradiated with ultraviolet light’, 1981; issues of the Linus Pauling Institute newsletter for summer 1981 and winter 1983. Also letter from Pauling, 15 Oct 1993, referring to his inability to travel due to ill health (he died 19 Aug 1994), and his continuing research. Original file title ‘Pauling Linus’.
