Physical description

1 volume 22 ll. (first & last 3 bl.). 4to. 20 x 14 cm. Modern boards. Ff. 18, 19, and all after fol. 20 are wanting. Written in three different italic hands: 17 lines to a page throughout. On the first leaf of the text is an illuminated letter Q, in gold and colours with wide marginal decoration, somewhat rubbed, and the upper part shaved. Other capitals and headings in red. The first (blank) leaf and the last 4 leaves are on different paper, though there is an early foliation of 1-20 beginning at the first leaf: the last 4 ll. are not foliated. The MS. has been refoliated 1-22. Written in a semi-current humanistic script 21-24 lines to a page. The script on f.19 is similar but probably of the early 16th century The Index (ff. 2-4) seems to have been left unfinished, as it only extends to f.1. On f.16v and f.17v, receipts - possibly charms - have been erased.
