    -r ft CASE OF INVETERATE STOMATITIS With PEMPHIGUS, &c, &c, N February 10th, 1882, Mr. , set. 47 years, first consulted me on account of a very severe form of in- flammation of the mucous membrane of the mouth, extending to the nares and through the lacrymal ducts to the conjunctivas of both eyes. The whole interior of the mouth was intensely, vividly red, except that in a few spots on the arch of the palate on the tonsils and pharynx, there were patches of very delicate pellicular whiteness, resembling what is produced by the application of a caustic solution. He had been recently staying for some months with his wife and children at Littlehampton, and had first felt some soreness of the throat at the latter part of his stay there. He had a strong impression in his own mind that this originated in an old syphilitic history, and at various times in his life he had consulted Sir James Paget, Mr. Walter Coulson, Dr. Morell Mackenzie and others on the subject of his suspicions, but there seems to have been great doubt (to say the least) in the opinions Under the care of C.
