Notes

This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
I should have never eaten that second croissant (written in pencil, verso)
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "At the beginning of the twentieth century, the idea of 'masculine beauty' seems to have been more readily acceptable in France than elsewhere (see 2046173i). Elsewhere strongmen such as Eugen Sandow could be ostensibly feted for their strength and power, whereas in France bodybuilders such as Bobby Pandur could be celebrated quite simply as paragons of masculine beauty."
