Lettering

Delphi. Antinous. The favourite of the Emperor Hadrian... N. Stovdnapas Bears number: A.408 (printed in black, bottom recto) Lettering printed in black on bottom recto with translations in Greek, French, and German. There is an inscribed message written in blue ink on the verso with greek postage marks dated 1968.

Notes

The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Antinous, 'favourite' of the Emperor Hadrian, has become associated with homosexuality in western culture, and depictions of him in any form have formed a staple in 'gay' collections."
